Saint Leo is a military-supportive community, serving those who serve whenever and wherever it is best for them.
Earning Our Stripes
Saint Leo University has earned much recognition for ongoing efforts in support of active-duty military men and women, veterans, and their families. Among those honors are the following:
- The 2017 Military Spouse Friendly School® and 2017 Military Friendly® School designations by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs®, Military Spouse, Vetrepreneur®, and STEM Jobs ℠ resources.
- A Top 10 Gold-level Military Friendly® School Award recipient in the category of large, private institutions for 2017. Saint Leo was ranked No. 3 in the nation in its category and one of the “best of the best,” according to Victory Media.
- A 2017 Top School recognition from Military Advanced Education & Transition (MAE&T) as a leader in the nation for providing education to those who are serving or who have served in the armed forces.
- One of the Best for Vets: Colleges 2017 by Military Times. Saint Leo ranked eighth in the country in the Online & Nontraditional School category, which recognizes the university’s commitment to educating military personnel, veterans, and their families wherever they may be—even if they are deployed.
Military Makeover
In March, Saint Leo University partnered with the Military Makeover Team for an episode of Military Makeover airing on Lifetime Television®, featuring an interview with University President Bill Lennox.
Well-Deserved R & R
In July, University Campus hosted the Steel Mags Summer Summit, a retreat for members of the Steel Mags Sorority (wives, sisters, and daughters of those in the U.S. Army Special Forces). Saint Leo partnered with the Steel Mags, the Green Beret Foundation, and Veterans Alternative, a nonprofit founded by Saint Leo alumnus and U.S. Army veteran Brian Anderson ’14.
Serving Those Who Serve
From September 28 to 30, Saint Leo faculty, staff, students, and alumni took part in the One Community Now Stand Down, assisting veterans in need and veterans in transition. The event, held at the Concourse Rotary Pavilion in Shady Hills, FL, helps put those who served in the U.S. military in touch with needed services, including medical care.
